This photo was taken around 5 years ago, when a beautiful butterfly landed in our car while we were out on the opal fields.
The moment I saw it, I was taken straight back to my childhood when my grandmother would share her stories about butterflies on the opal fields & how they lead the miners to opals…
This was the start of my butterfly making, which has now turned into something truly special & unique.
It’s also turned into a collection of pendants.
With my world at the moment being consumed making these gorgeous pieces I started thinking.
What is the common thread between opals, women and butterflies?
At first glance, they seem worlds apart.
But the more I thought about it, the more I realised they all share something beautiful. They are shaped by time, strengthened by what they endure, and each carries a quiet kind of magic that can’t be rushed or replicated.
The little butterfly, an opal hidden deep in the earth, and the women who wear these pieces are all part of the same story.
And that story became the beginning of this collection.
In the lead up to our Lightning Ridge festival week, I’ll be sharing the pieces, the inspiration, and the stories that brought them to life.
I can’t wait to finally introduce you to my butterfly collection.
They will be on display at Enlightening Ridge Emporium, really soon
