FAQ
How to look after your opal jewellery?
All of the opals in our jewellery are solid black or crystal opal from our mines in Lightning Ridge, Australia.
Opal is a soft gem that sits on the Mohs scale between 5 to 6.5, this means that your stone needs to be treated with care. Please be careful not to knock or bump your jewellery don't wear it whilst swimming or when your hands are in any sort of liquid that could damage your stone or precious metal.
Our solid Australian opals can not be destroyed by water.
To clean your piece only use warm soapy water, or take it to a professional jewellery cleaner. Over time all jewellery will oxidize due to every day wear and exposure. To bring your piece back to its original state gently wash it in warm soapy water, dry it really well and give it a good polish with your polishing cloth.
What's my ring size, & how to work it out...
One of the easiest ways to work out your ring size is to measure the inner diameter of a ring you already own, then double check it with the chart below.
Or drop into a jeweller and ask them to measure your finger size, if you are in Brisbane or Lightning Ridge we would happily check your sizing for you message us via this website or on social media.
If the below chart doesn't have your sizing please reach out as I can make a ring in a size that fits you perfectly.

Can you make a piece of jewellery with my opal?
Over the years, I've had the honour of setting some truly special opals for people - stones found on family trips, gifts from loved ones, or treasures discovered in the Ridge.
As much as I adore working with sentimental gems, recently a few have sadly broken during the setting process. It's a heartbreaking thing to happen, especially when the stone carries so much meaning.
Because of this, I've made the decision to no longer take on other peoples opals for setting. It's never easy to say no, but it's the kindest choice - both for the stones & the stories they hold.
Thank you for understanding & for continuing to support the pieces we create with our own stones, Lisa
